STRONG IMMUNE SYSTEMS

Most good breeders these days have their breeding pairs tested to see if they are carriers for any genetic diseases they could pass on to their puppies.  This is becoming a welcomed standard.  But, the most common diseases affecting Australian shepherds cannot currently be genetically screened for.  These include hemangiosarcoma, autoimmune hypothyroidism and Diabetes.  At Best Friend Aussies we focus on breeding for puppies with strong immune systems to give them the best chances at remaining healthy.  We do this by meticulously choosing our breeding pairs that produce puppies with exceptional genetic diversity.  Modern science shows that high genetic diversity supports strong immune systems and longer, healthier lives in dogs.
